30-03-2020 18:13:35

Overview:

This document describes the standard process customer can follow to upgrade old version of EPS Server and clients to the Latest Version of EPS Server and clients.

Note: Please go through this document carefully before un installation of Old Version EPS Server

Steps to Upgrade EPS Server:

1. Click here to download the latest version of EPS Server installer using your EPS Product Key.

2. Run the latest version of EPS Server installer downloaded file in the existing (older) EPS server or new system if you wish to change the existing hardware / system.

3. Please make sure that the System IP address is manually configured, as the installation will not continue if IP Address assignment is set to DHCP mode.

4. Run the wizard, it will prompt to select installation mode.

If you are installing latest EPS Server on the existing system then click on "Yes" when prompted with MultiServer Mode Installation.

5. Proceed with the wizard and provide the appropriate information wherever required, we recommended not to change any of the default port numbers.

If you wish to change default port numbers, please note it down before proceeding.

6. Complete activation process if EPS Server is installed on New System.

Steps to Upgrade EPS Clients:

Customer can choose either to “Auto Redirection Process” OR “Manual Upgrade Process” as per best match to their business and network infrastructure.

A. Auto Redirection Process:

This process silently downloads the latest Version of EPS clients on selected Endpoints and performs un installation of old version first and installation of latest version of EPS clients.

1. Login in to old version EPS Server Console and perform following steps.
Click Admin Settings > Server > Redirection

2. Enter details of Latest Version EPS “Server Name/IP” and “Port”.

Server Name/IP:

During latest version EPS Server installation, wizard will prompt admin to select either “Server Name” or “IP Address”.

Based on option selected during installation time, mention “Server Name” or “IP Address” on below option:

Port:

For Current EPS Server Latest version i.e. 7.6, client communication port is: 5057

3. Redirection on Public IP Address.

If old version has any EPS Clients installed on “Public IP / Hostname” and you want them to auto redirect to the latest version of EPS Clients, use this option.

Mention the Public IP on which the latest EPS Server is published in Internet.

Note: Please ensure the client – server communication ports are allowed in Firewall on which Public IP is configured. To check ports to be allowed on firewall as per EPS Server Version.

4. Redirection Type :

Depending on the Business requirements and the Network Infrastructure, admin can choose best fit option to auto redirect clients to latest version.

Note: For EPS 7.6, EPS Client installer setup file is of around 450MB size. When redirection is triggered, old version EPS Client will start downloading of latest version of EPS Client setup file.

Depending on your network infrastructure and bandwidth available between clients and server, admin can choose the best fit option.

If there is limited bandwidth OR large number of endpoints to be redirected, we recommend to choose “Redirect selected clients” option.

If “Redirect selected clients” is selected, admin will get option to select endpoint clients.

Select Endpoints to be redirected as per your business requirements and network capacity/bandwidth or infrastructure support.

Follow the same process till you get all your old version endpoint clients redirected to the latest version of EPS clients.

Once clicked “OK”, communication to latest version EPS Server will be verified. Upon successful communication to latest version EPS Server, redirection commands to selected endpoints will be saved and applied.

5. Redirection Duration :

In MultiServer Mode, once setting is applied for redirection, admin will be promoted to select redirection period.
Admin can select 30, 60 or 90 days duration based on their business and number of endpoints to be redirected.

Once the selected migration period is over, Latest version EPS Server will not allow admin to login in to latest version EPS GUI Console.

Admin has to uninstall old version EPS Server and re-activate latest version of EPS Server with Product Key.

In case new version is installed on different System it is recommended to complete the migration process within 90 days.

6. Redirection Status :

Admin can verify how many clients have successfully redirected to the latest version under status option.
