How to recover data from encrypted Removable Drive in Seqrite Encription 1.2.3

02-11-2020 19:17:46

Overview: The Seqrite Encryption Manager (SEM ) Database stores information about disk volumes (partitions) encrypted with Seqrite Volume Encryption (or SVE) software. In case of emergency recovery decryption of disk volume may be required (for example, the user has forgotten password or disk on the computer appears as damaged). In this case Seqrite Encryption Manager ( SEM) Administrator can create rescue file and decrypt the volume. There are several options for creating the rescue file depending on the case.

Applicable Versions:

Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 32 and 64 bit (Max version support build 20H2)

Windows server 2008, 2012 and 2016, 2019 64 bit (Max version support build 1903)

Below are the steps to be followed to recover data on encrypted removable drive:

1. Log on to SEM console.

2. In the left pane, select the client computer. Click Recovery Options on the Computer page.

3. In the new dialog box, select Removable media and then click Next.

4. Plug removable media to be recovered into a computer managed by SEM and find the Removable ID. The dialog box instructs how to find removable ID; follow the instructions. Enter the ID in Removable ID field. Choose the appropriate reason for recovery and click Next.

  • · If a password has been lost, decryption is not required, just use the new password to mount the encrypted removable disk.
  • · In case of a corrupted removable drive, a Rescue File will be created in the same way as in the case of corrupted fixed volume.

To decrypt the corrupted removable volume, follow these steps:

1. Open Seqrite Volume Encryption.

2. On the dashboard, select the Encrypted Removable drive volume.

3. On the menu, click Volume > Decrypt Volume.

5.The following dialog box appears:

6. Click Yes.

7. Enter the password and click OK.

8. After the decryption process is completed, a success message is displayed.
