How to Troubleshoot Internet access issue via UTM

Overview: This article gives you overview on how to troubleshoot Internet access issue via the Seqrite UTM appliance.

Step 1: Check the WAN status

1: Click on Network in Navigation Menu

2: Click on Interface.

3: Verify the level of the interface if it is configured as Default / Failover / Load balancing. if it is not configured out of these 3 then navigate to Network / Load balancing and apply the proper level.

4:Click on the gateway IP of the WAN Interface in question and verify if you are able to ping.

In this we will take the example of ETH3.

If you are able to ping the Gateway then follow Step 2.

If you are unable to ping the Gateway then it means that the ISP itself is not responding, which means internet is down from ISP.

Step 2: Go to diagnostic option and check ping and traceroute status from the specific WAN interface which is in question.

In the above scenario as ISP is up hence we are able to ping and do trace route, incase if you are unable to ping or do Traceroute then follow the Step 3.

Step 3: Check WAN Interface Logs on UTM if the Interface ports is showing UP/DOWN status:

Click on Logs and Reports in the top Navigation menu

Click on Logs >>> System logs and select Interface

Check if the WAN interface status in question if it is UP/DOWN. If it is showing Down then you can connect with the ISP provider and check the status of the ISP.
