Seqrite Endpoint Security compatibility with macOS Catalina (10.15)

Overview:

MacOS Catalina is the sixteenth major release of macOS, Apple's desktop operating system for Macintosh computers. MacOS Catalina is released on 7 October 2019.

This article describes Seqrite EPS 7.4 and EPS 7.6 compatibility with macOS Catalina (10.15).

Seqrite EPS 7.4

For existing Users of EPS 7.4

If Seqrite EPS 7.4 Mac client is already installed on macOS Mojave (10.14) and earlier versions and if you upgrade to macOS Catalina -

i. the following warning prompt of "Legacy System Extension" appears:

ii. to make Seqrite EPS 7.4 Mac client compatible with macOS Catalina, do the following on macOS Catalina:

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
  3. Click the lock icon and provide password if it is locked.
  4. Select Full Disk Access in the left pane.
  5. Add the following processes in the given path and then select the processes in the Security & Privacy Full Disk Access window,
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Client Agent 7.4/Endpoint Security Client
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Seqrite/opssvc
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Seqrite/qhhlpdmn

The above processes may be added automatically. In this case, only select the processes in the Security & Privacy Full Disk Access window.


Permission required for Seqrite Apps to access system files on macOS Catalina

1. Scanner

If you initiate schedule scan, scanner app will ask your permission to access files in your Desktop, Documents, Downloads folders, external drives, and iCloud drive.

When the schedule scan starts, a prompt appears to ask permission to access your files.

Click OK to continue the schedule scan.

For reference, see the prompt to access files in your Desktop folder.

In the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders window, verify that all the options under scanner are selected to scan effectively.

2. Update from specified Path

On the Client side, in Settings > Automatic Update, if you have selected Pick from Specified Path option for updating mode, avstatus app will ask your permission to access files in your Desktop, Documents, Downloads folders, external drives, and iCloud drive.

When the update downloading starts, a prompt appears to ask permission to access your files.

Click OK to continue the download of updates.

In the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders window, verify that all the options under avstatus are selected to update effectively.

The following apps may also ask your permission to access files in your Desktop, Documents, Downloads folders, external drives, and iCloud drive.

  • Seqrite Un-installer
  • Update
  • spconf
  • upschd

Click OK to continue the action.

In the System Preferences > Security & Privacy> Privacy > Files and Folders window, verify that all the options under above apps are selected to complete the action effectively.

Fresh installation of EPS 7.4

EPS 7.4 mac client cannot be installed on macOS Catalina. You will receive the following message while installing EPS 7.4 Mac client,

For existing Users of EPS 7.60

If Seqrite EPS 7.60 Mac client is already installed on macOS Mojave (10.14) and earlier versions and if you upgrade to macOS Catalina-

i. the following warning prompt appears:

ii. to make Seqrite EPS 7.6 Mac client compatible with macOS Catalina, do the following on macOS Catalina:

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
  3. Click the lock icon and provide password if it is locked.
  4. Select Full Disk Access in the left pane.
  5. Add the following processes in the given path and then select the processes in the Security & Privacy Full Disk Access window,
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Seqrite/opssvc
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Seqrite/qhhlpdmn
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Seqrite/dlpscanner
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Seqrite/scanner.app
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Seqrite/update.app
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/ Client Agent 10.4/Endpoint Security Client
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Seqrite/schddmn
    • opsext (already present in the privacy section)
    • ggcext (already present in the privacy section)
    • Dlpext (already present in the privacy section)
    • famext (already present in the privacy section)

Fresh Installation of EPS 7.60

Seqrite EPS 7.60 supports macOS Catalina for mac client fresh installation.

If you install Seqrite EPS 7.60 Mac client on macOS Catalina for the first time, the following alert prompt appears.

To function Seqrite EPS 7.6 Mac client on macOS Catalina, do the following:
1. Click Open Security Preferences.
2. Allow “Quick Heal Technologies (P) Ltd.” from the ‘System Preferences >> Security & Privacy’
3. Restart the system.

MacOS Catalina requires approval from users to run Installer for Endpoint Security for Mac, when MCCLAGNT.TAR file is extracted on Desktop/Downloads/Documents folder.

While installing EPS 7.60 Mac client, you will receive the following message,

To continue EPS 7.60 Mac client installation, click OK.

After successful installation, do the following on macOS Catalina,

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
  3. Click the lock icon and provide password if it is locked.
  4. Select Full Disk Access in the left pane.
  5. Add the following processes in the given path and then select the processes in the Security & Privacy Full Disk Access window,
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Client Agent 7.60/Endpoint Security Client
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Seqrite/opssvc
    • /Library/Application Support/Seqrite/Seqrite/qhhlpdmn

Warning:

If you do not follow this procedure, all protection levels of Mac client will be in the OFF mode exposing your system to threats.
