Seqrite EPS Client installation aborted due to Windows Defender on Windows Server

Overview:

This Article will help an Administrator to deploy Seqrite EPS Client on Windows Server 2016 and above where client installation is aborted due to ‘Windows Defender’ is running on the Server.

Applicable Versions: Windows Server 2016 and above

Error: Seqrite EPS Client is not getting installed on Windows Server 2016 and above after executing client packager on the Server. When an Administrator login to Seqrite EPS Console and check on Dashboard, he will observed that Endpoint under ‘Client Installation Failed’

Cause: Seqrite Client installation process is getting aborted due to Windows Defender is already installed and running on the Server OS.

Troubleshooting Steps:

After observing by an Administrator that even after executing Seqrite Client Packager on the Server OS, only Client Agent is showing installed and Seqrite Client AV is not getting installed.

Step 1: Administrator will have to login to Seqrite EPS Web Console and check the Dashboard (See Figure 1):

Administrator will observed some count under ‘Client Deployment Failed

Step 2: An Administrator will have to click on count to check the Endpoint Details and then click on ‘View Installer Log’ to check for the error logs (See Figure 2):

Step 3: After clicking on ‘View Installer Log’, An Administrator can go through the logs and error message (See Figure 3):

An Administrator have to uninstall Windows Defender from that Server OS to further continue installation of Seqrite EPS Client

Step 4: Administrator have to open Powershell on that Server system and check the current status of Windows Defender (See Figure 4):

To check the current status an Administrator can run below command in Powershell:

Get-Service -Name windefend

Step 5: To uninstall Window Defender from Server, an Administrator have to run below command (See Figure 5 ):

Uninstall-WindowsFeature -Name Windows-Defender

Step 6: Once command is completed successfully, an Administrator have to restart the server to complete the Windows Defender un-installation process.
