How to create Bootable USB with rescue ISO using WinpE

Overview: This knowledge base article discusses how to decrypt endpoint which is encrypted and OS is not booting due to corruption or user need to reinstall/repair OS.

Supported Windows Versions:

Desktop: Windows 7, 8 and 10 32 and 64 bit (Max version support build 1909)

Server: Windows server 2008, 2012 and 2016, 2019 64 bit (Max version support build 1903)

Note: Users should remember the password of the encrypted endpoint. 

If the user does not remember the password of the affected endpoint. He/She can contact the administrator for the recovery password of the affected endpoint.


Below are the steps to be followed to create a Bootable USB with rescue iso:

To rescue using WinPE:

On your computer, download the Rescue ISO (WinPE) from the link Download WinPE Rescue.

1. Download the Rufus from Rufus Tool
2. Run the Rufus.exe
3. Select the downloaded ISO file by clicking the Select button.
4. Connect the USB drive.
5. Click the Start button.

This will create the Bootable USB with rescue ISO. 

Please perform the following steps on the affected computer:

i. Boot the computer from the bootable USB drive.

       If you’re booting from USB media, you must change the BIOS boot order to boot endpoint from USB device.  
       Otherwise, the computer will load from the hard drive as normal. Start by plugging the USB drive into a USB port. Then to
       change the BIOS boot sequence:

        1. Press the Power button for your computer.
        2. During the initial startup screen, press ESC, F1, F2, F8, or F10. (Depending on the company that created your version of BIOS,
            a menu may appear.)
        3. When you choose to enter the BIOS Setup, the setup utility page will appear.
        4. Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, select the BOOT tab. All of the available system devices will be displayed in order
            of their boot priority. You can reorder the devices here.
        5. Move USB to be first in the boot sequence.

ii. The computer starts through rescue ISO.
iii. On the desktop, double-click the Seqrite Volume Encryption icon.
iv. Seqrite Volume encryption interface is opened.
V. Right-click on OS volume (which contains OS file). Click on Decrypt button
vi. Enter the PreBoot password to decrypt volume and start decryption.
