How to change UTM web administrator password using command line interface

Overview:     You can change UTM web administrator password using command line interface. Please refer the steps mentioned in this article.

Applicable Versions:   UTM version 2.x

Steps to change UTM web administrator password through command line:


1)Login to UTM CLI mode.

Open putty ssh client, enter UTM LAN IP address and ssh port number then click open. Default SSH port is 22.

2) On login prompt enter Administrator user name and hit enter.

3)  Enter password and hit enter.

**Note: Password will not be visible, just type it and hit enter key.

4 ) CLI menu appears. Type 1 and hit enter key (Configure and manage Seqrite UTM)

5) Type 4 (Web Management) and hit enter key.

6) Type 1 (Change web administrator password) and hit enter key.

Type the desired web administrator name for which you wants to change password and hit enter key. In our case we want to change password of “user2”

**Note
: User names are case sensitive.

Type old password when prompted and hit enter key.
Type new password when prompted and hit enter key.
Retype new password when prompted and hit enter key.

**Note
: Passwords will not be visible, just type it and hit enter.

Type “ Y” when confirmation prompt appears and hit enter key.

Press any key once the password gets changed successfully.

Password reset successfully and you will jump to the main menu.
