How to configure File Activity Monitor on endpoints

15-06-2020 20:31:33

Description:

This feature lets you monitor activity related to the files on the computer, a network drive, or a removable drive. File types can be customised and selected to be monitored from a pre-defined list of file types. Additional extensions can be added under Custom Extensions for those which are not listed.
Files can be monitored for actions such as Copy, Delete, or Rename. Accordingly, a report for the file activity will be generated under the Reports Section.

Note: The File Activity Monitor feature is available for Windows and Mac OS clients only.

To configure the file activity monitor, follow these steps:

1. Log on to the Seqrite Endpoint Security Web console

2. Click Clients > Manage Policies

3. Select the policy to configure the File Activity Monitor

4. Check mark “Enable File Activity Monitor”

5. In the "Select File Types and Events to monitor within drives” area, place a check mark to select the drives to be monitored for file activity
Note:

Selection of event is not applicable for Removable Drives, Network Drives.
You can select to monitor only the ‘Delete’ activity for Local Drives.
For Removable Drives, you can select 'All Files' to be monitored.

6. In the File types list, select the file types to be monitored one by one for all the selected drives.

7. In the Custom Files, additional file types can be added by clicking the plus sign (+) to add a new file type extension to be monitored. Use the delete icon to remove a file or folder type.

8. Exclusions: Enter the folder/directory paths that you want to exclude from the monitoring,
For example:
C://Users/Admin in Windows
and
/User/Admin in MAC

9. To remove a folder path from the exclusions, click on the delete icon which appears against the selected entry in the list.

10. Click “Save Policy” to save the settings.
